The Challenge
The vast amount of data that is available from physical, engineered, and social systems is revolutionizing the field of statistics. This inaugural, two-day symposium, hosted by MIT’s new center for statistics, will offer technical presentations by thought leaders in mathematical statistics, machine learning, econometrics, and biostatistics. The symposium will provide the MIT community with a forum for discussing some of the challenges and opportunities that are redefining 21st-century statistics.
MIT's new center for statistics is part of the new Institute for Data, Systems, and Society (IDSS) (directed by Munther Dahleh), which focuses on addressing societal problems using rigorous analytical tools from statistics, information and decision sciences, and human and institutional behavior.
